Which one is the best? As far as picking one system and getting the most for your money and the most good games...

IMO, it goes

1. PS2
2. Gamecube
3. Xbox

Gamecube had some awesome exclusive titles but not as many as PS2. PS2 had almost every awesome exclusive game, plus all the other good ones. Xbox had Fable (which was way too short and a huge waste of money because of it, only to be released on the PC anyway) and the Halo series. Halo was an average FPS compared to what I'm used to (Half-life series, Doom, Quake, etc.).

I'm still playing Final Fantasy XII and Dragon Quest VIII, whereas I sold my Xbox years ago and my Gamecube is sort of collecting dust.

Well?

1. PS2 - for its game collection.
2. Xbox - because a modded Xbox is uber.
3. Gamecube - last because there wasn't much that I played on it except for Mario Kart and RE4.

For me -

1. Xbox. Modded Xbox rules. Knights of the Old Republic 1 and 2 were awesome, as was the splinter cell games (splinter cell was 1000x better on xbox that it was on the PS2 or the gamecube.
2. PS2. Lots and lots of good games
3. Dreamcast. Just a cool system that unfortuantely did not catch on.
4. Gamecube. Not a bad system, had some great games (metroid prime 1 and 2, resident evil 4).

Xbox FTW!!!!!

PS2 had a lot of exclusives, but Xbox had most of what I wanted: Halo, KOTOR, Ninja Gaiden, Morrowind, and lets not forget Xbox Live.

All my $0.02.

1. Xbox
2. GC
3. PS2

As mentioned the Xbox modding scene rocks, XBMC is great software. GC #2 because of Smash Bros Melee, which me and some friends still play probably weekly (can't wait for Brawl for Wii). PS2 #3 because it never had anything that really interested me (that couldn't be purchased for Xbox instead, at least). Even as cheap as they are nowadays I have no desire to buy one, although I've heard God of War I and II are supposed to be excellent.

Only had an Xbox, but GC would have been my choice (Xbox was a gift). I only owned a few Xbox games... GC had more that really appealed to me. Since I got my Wii I've bought 8 GC games (that's a lot for me :p)... and there are a few more I want but haven't found used. PS2 just didn't interest me much. So I guess... I'd have to say GC and Xbox tie for first. Love the GC classics, but Xbox modding was awesome. PS2 had a ton of games... but most of them I didn't care about. I think in a general sense, the PS2 definitely dominated as far as mass appeal appeal though.

Not counting the mod capabilities of the xbox, for me it was GC, PS2, XBOX. I actually found more games on GC fun than on XBOX and PS2. Resident Evil 4 gets my vote for best game of last gen as well. Now I pretty much use the XBOX for XBMC and MAMEoX and I actually sold the PS2 to get an XBOX so I could mod it. If we're talking including mod capabilities, then XBOX, GC, PS2.

For those mentioning Dreamcast, that system was pretty much dead by the time XBox and GameCube even debuted... If anything that system was a replacement for the even bigger failure that was the Saturn and thus placed it against PSX and N64...although it was too powerful and late in the game - pretty much in between generations which is a big part of why it failed in the first place.

For what I want from consoles it actually placed GC first for me, XBox and PS2 are pretty much a tossup but I guess the nod would go to the XBox for it being more versatile and also having more games that I was interested in - it also didn't hurt that I won an XBox in a raffle :p
