I finally put together another system (a very cheap one I put together as a spare) and am having an issue with it and can't figure out what the problem is.

I cant seem to get any of the inputs working. I've tried connected multiple keyboards and mices, through BOTH USB and PS/2, but nothing is responding (no lights lighting etc)

they were working fine, and I installed windows no problem. I left the whole system running a bit to ensure it is all good. Now I went and installed the drivers off the CD (audio and Lan) and I let it reboot etc. Also, I connected the speakers to the audio as well. After reboot, my mouse and keyboard don't light up anymore. The mouse/keyboard work fine, something happened to the inputs on the motherboard.

I have no idea what to do now. I had this problem before, and it was very similar and I ended up getting the motherboard replaced, but now it happened again, and I don't think it can possibly be another faulty MOBO.

Here's the config/parts I have:

motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16813135068

cpu: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...E16819116063&Tpk=e2200

memory: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16820227139

gfx card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16814127295

Any ideas are appreciated![/quote]

i cant even get to the windows device manager, because I can't control any keyboard/mouse to get there lol.

Also, to top it off, I just reset the CMOS, and so now I can't boot windows, since the POST screen requires me to go into bios and set the time. BUT I can't boot into bios because I can't hold delete because the ps/2 keyboard (I also tried a USB keyboard) arn't detecting. I messed with the USB PWR jumpers to see if that'd help, but no luck.

Anymore ideas?

well its obviously something in windows.
because the usb/ps2 worked in installer and bios.
it is software driver issue, not hardware. hardware doesn't suddenly stop working like that because of a fault. something broke in software when you installed stuff off the cd.
reinstall or something. install drivers for keyboard/mouse first. image the system then try installing other components one by one using the newest off website not cd

what the heck is a usb power jumper?
are you connecting usb to the m/b or using the ones on the case. you might have miswired the ones on the case, do not use them.

I don't think it's a software issue, because as I said before, I can't even get bios (way before the OS begins to load). The keyboard NEVER lights up, same for the mouse etc. Also, I've tried unplugging the HD and CD drive entirely, and still the same issue.

I'm fairly certain it's a hardware issue, and it just happened to get 'broken' the same time I rebooted or whatever. Also, these are rear panel USB ports on the mobo. USB power jumper is one of the jumpers i found on the mobo.

Anyone else have any ideas?

Here's goes stabbing in the dark... :) Do you have anything connected to the USB headers on the board (e.g.: front USB ports on your case, a bay device, etc). If so, disconnect them and try again. I'd pull everything back out of the case and reassemble it on the bench, just to make there's no shorts or anything. And keep it simple... disconnect anything you don't need and pull all but one DIMM. Power supply (5V) perhaps? Any chance you can get your hands on loaner LGA775 board or decent power supply for testing purposes? If not, maybe take the board/cpu/memory to a computer shop and see if they will toss it on the bench and power it up.

Failing all that, i'd contact the reseller/manufacturer and discuss an RMA. See if they will cross-ship the replacement so you can get up and running faster.
