I think it?s hilarious how some people crap and some people defend the PS2 sellers like they?re the PS2 police. I can help myself but laugh. There is one guy in particular who is defending all the sellers like he's the Police.

I'm not sure how I feel on thread crapping, but I bet these same people who say not to do it online, would be the first to post a message to this board saying that Best Buy/CompUSA/Whatever retailer was ripping customers off on a certain product. If Best Buy was selling the PS2 for $800, I bet there would be TONS of threads trashing them.. its interesting how the double standard works.

Personally, I think I am leaning more toward agreeing with crapping on threads.. Isn't the beauty of the internet the free flow of information? Don't you wish if you were about to spend $800 on a PS2 at Best Buy that SOMEONE would be kind enough to tell you at the checkout counter that Circuit City is selling it for 1/4th of that? I do!

IMHO thread crapping is thread crapping, period. We have a rule against it for good reason, so just live with it. And using your analogy Crimson, what if you were selling something and I knew you could buy it cheaper elsewhere, and I posted it in your thread. Would you like it? As much as it irritates some people to no end, we live in a market economy and people will pay what it takes to get something they want. Hell, look at cigarettes! $2 a pack!!??

No, it wouldn't piss me off at all.. If you are willing to part with it for less, then I am sh|t out of luck.. However, even at $20, I think with free overnight shipping mine would be a better deal.. but thats neither here nor there.. :) I won't participate in thread crapping myself, but I am understand why people do it.. And yes, it is a "market economy".. and part of a market economy is informed consumers.. I guess I don't understand why someone should be allowed to rip another person off simply because they are ignorant of the real value.

Like I said, if I am about to be ripped off buying something HERE, or at a store, I would really hope someone would let me know.. BUT, its Anandtech's policy to not allow it.. which is their decision.. Its kind of odd however that a site dedicated to making the consumer more informed about products, frowns upon making them informed of the PRICE of those products..

BTW, I have never once crapped on someone's elses thread, and don't plan on it.. I just understand why people do it.. Retail stores have return policies, and thus some consumer protection against things like overpricing. However, private sales have no such guarantees.. the buyer just gets screwed if they are ignorant of the value of a product.
