I got it about 3 years ago and hardly used it. Mostly for Final Fantasy X-2, which I really dont like very much, Final Fantasy 12, which I like even less, and now finally Dragon Quest 8, which is incredibly simple for a PS2 game but still manages to be fun.
In the past few weeks I have noticed this bad boy hicupping and stuttering an aweful lot, even when it hasnt been running very long. Tried flipping it over and aiming a Vornado fan at it. Nothing helps. Its always run a little warm in the past but never had any stutters playing games. Are these things designed to go bad after a certain amount of time?
Discs read just fine. Its when I go into games that pretty much all videos, 2D sprites and 3D scenes run slowly. They dont get better after a while. Will I need to buy a new one or is this a fixable issue?
Is this a common issue? I see lots of stuff online that suggests some Slimlines dont work well after a few years, but usually thats due to constant use without proper cooling, which certainly has not been my problem.
For reference, this is a SCPH-750001.
