It is actually not over MSRP since it's a bundle and if you add up the components it comes out to MSRP.

i still dont think it's a good deal though, PS2 is still overpriced and overhyped, give it time and it may be the system to beat, but we'll have to wait and see

I'd consider this deal overpriced because they're essentially forcing you to buy all the extra crap in order to get the PS2.

It's .04 over MSRP...

Here's the breakdown:

Playstation 2 $299.99
Memory Card $34.99
Controller $34.99
Star Wars $49.99
SSX $49.99
=====================
TOTAL $469.95

So you are paying .04, but if you think about it, if you bought all those seperately, you'd be paying ALOT more for shipping, so this is actually a hot deal. And I don't understand why people bash stuff like this, if you don't like playstation 2's, can you just like keep your mouth shut???

The playstation 2 is awesome...best game system out right now...

I am not partial to either Dreamcast or PS2, but PS2 is outrageously overpriced. When Dreamcast came out, I waited until I got a deal on one. Finally, a deal did come up - the JCPenny.com deal, and I snagged one for $35. So, there you go -- just wait 6-8 months, its all about supply and demand.

This bundle is the best deal available right now. Actually, I prefer (and ordered) the Sports Bundle, with Madden instead of Star Wars. It's still offered, but there's no link to it (weird) so you have to hunt around.

Wait 8 months for gaming, to save $100-4200 bucks. True, it's an option, but having a PS2 is worth $0.50 - $0.75 per day to me. And I figure that's about what it will depreciate at over the mid-term. 8 months from now, when X-box FINALLY comes out, I figure my new PS2 bundle will have depreciated about $120-$180. I'm ok with that. Makes it a good deal for me.

I haven't had a console system since Super Nintendo. Got into computer games, but am tired of playing 1-player games locked away in my den. I want to sit on the couch with my girlfriend and my buddied and play football or SSX.

Cheers,
-Dave

There's a coupon that you can have w/ it too.. 5 dollars.. not much, but under the COUPON code just put PS2IGN and you get 5 dollars off... pretty good deal to me cuz I would've gone out and bought that stuff later on anyways.. and since I'm in CALI, no tax and shipping is 14 dollars 2nd day...

even if it's only .04 over MSRP, it's still too much consering that you could probably get each of the accessories/games at a much lower cost than retail. So, I still think that you have to be really desperate to get this PS2 bundle. I'm still holding off til it comes down to $150 + free accessories.

ps2 sucks.

wait until the game manufacturers start taking advantage of the technology.
by then, it'll be a lot cheaper.

This is a deal I think. Let me address some points. Some of you say it's not a hot deal because they force you to buy all that stuff. True, but how many of you buy consoles and nothing else? I guarantee you, you are going to buy (at least) one extra controller and (at least) one memory card. Then what are you going to do with all that hardware and no games? There you go, a few games to boot. Also, it's funny what determines a hot deal or not. A majority of the cold deals on this board are either a) because it didn't pan out or b) the deal is actually in agreement with the majority of other places. For example if someone says a hot deal for an game was $39.99 and other places sold it for the same price, it wouldn't be too hot. Well all your excuses are "In my opinion this deal is not hot since it's overpriced". We can play that game with any deal now can't we? Dreamcast for $35 was overpriced since I don't think it's that great.
