Ps2 replacement part

Well, I am an idiot. I was tinkering around with my ps2, taking it apart, and looking around. When I tried to put the ribon cable back in for the mem car/controler ports, the clip the holds it on snapped off. I cannot get the cable to stay in without the clip. This may sound stupid, but can I solder, or glue, or take it back on? I figured this wasn't an option, so I looked at replacement parts. The part I would have to replace would be the mobo, unless could find some sort of clip for it, or a new controller port. the mobo costs atleast $60. Do I have to pay $60 for a new mobo? Or is there another way? Thanks.

you may be able to glue / solder / tape it back on...it depends. If you post pics, we'll have a better idea of what exactly broke and how to fix it.

Alright, well, I hotlgued that part on, it stayed on. I decided to put a harddrive in. I then plugged everything in, turned her on, and it went through the ps2 opening screen for mabye 5 seconds, and then freezes right about at the part where you choose system configuration or browser. To try to isolate the problem, I first took out the hard drive. It did the exact same thing. So Im guessing its not intermitent damage.
I know it would be mostly guesses, since I do not have much info, but do you have any ideas what is wrong?
