PS2 Question: High Definition?

Are there any PS2 games that support HD? If so, do I need a component cable in order to output in HD? Is it worth it?

And just like most PS2 games....:roll: what is special about GT4 is not that it supports 480p, it's that its the only PS2 game that supports 1080i.

And just like all the other PS2 games....:roll: what is special about GT4 is not that it supports 480p, it's that its the only PS2 game that supports 1080i.

haha yeah it does do 1080i, it's been awhile since i booted up that game

There is a difference but not enough to blow you away. I'm only speaking for GT4 being played on my Dell 2405.

I thought I remember reading that it isn't true 1080i. It just upscales the picture to 1080i. I may be speaking out of my rear...I dunno.

I'm thinking of resident evil 4 for gamecube...thats like my favorite game...would it be even better with all that HD stuff?

sorry, thats whats called marketing hype. it does 640x1080i. lets see, 1080i is 1920x1080 oops basically it can do this because it just draws 640x540 each 1/60 of a second. much less burden, but much less actual detail. real 1080i is 2megapixels, gt4 is 2/3 of a megapixel. and theres always the loss of detail due to interlacing.
