PS2 Problem

After running my system for about 24 hours, my mouse and keyboard suddendly stop working. The PC doesn't lock up, because I can see things happening, like Bittorrent downloading. The only way to fix it is to power down, unplug the mouse/keyboard, and plug them back in. Any ideas why this is happening? I can provide details if needed. The mouse and keyboard are pretty generic.
