PS2 port

I currently have my mouse plugged into a PS2 port since the mouse would lock up for a second periodically during games. The problem does not occur when using the PS2 port, but my mouse never turns off. I'm using an Intellimouse Explorer and when I turn my PC off, the mouse stays lit up. Is there some setting I should be looking for in the BIOS or elsewhere that will kill the power to the PS2 port when my PC is off?

Most mobos today have KB/Mouse powerup features. This lets you power on your PC by just clicking the mouse or hitting a key on the KB. For this to work both devices have to be powered up.

While they will all have a BIOS setting to disable the power up feature, not many have a way to disable the power feed to the PS/2 ports.

Look around the PS/2 ports on your mobo, if you don't see a jumper labeled "Kb_PwrOn" or the like then your only option is to use the mouse on ur USB ports...

You really have nothing to worry about, your mouse is not going to burn out or anything from being on all the time.

The Asus A7N8X BIOS at least specifically has options for allowing the PS/2 keyboard and mouse powerup. It uses jumpers to specify whether USB wakeup is allowed (kinda silly design). Your board should have some way to disable this, either jumpers or a BIOS setting for the Power Management.
