I hope its so cheap, people can't help but buy it. If sony was smart, they'd charge $50 for a broadband adapter and the HDD combo (not bloddy likely) to make the price even with the to be released xbox and give it some competition. Because then it comes down to the games, and more competition = better games.

But for it to be sturdy enough, it's going to cost WAY more then $50. Got any pics, I'm interested to see what it looks like. Hopefully game developers make use of it, and it doesn't become a large memory card...

The official hard-drive price is 150 dollars, I think.

I dont have a picture, but If you have the August issue of EGM, the picture of the broadband adapter and hard-drive is in that issue.

TO answer your question, If FFXI requires the hard-drive, then I will buy it

$150! Good lord! There you go, that's how successful it will be. Gonna turn into a giant memory card methinks, with only a handful of games actually supporting it. A good majority of gamers aren't going to be willing to shell out 1/2 the cost of the system on a hard drive.

That's probably a fair price though, you'd be hard pressed to find a firewire drive for much less then that. (doesn't it connect via firewire?)

I believe the MSRP is $150
FFX doesnt require it but it will utilize it if you have it for faster load times etc.
Me thinx Sony is going to have some trouble convincing people to buy this.

Sony would be shooting themselves in the foot to price the hd addon at 150. That'll be almost a price of a brand new Game Cube.

I see no overwhelming reason to buy a HD for a console, but I would put down some cash for an ethernet adapter.

I'll probably buy one if its worth it in the end. But if the support is crap then I won't bother.

also I've just realised this. The price of $150 is only $50 from a dam CUBE!!!. So people might buy one of them?

but if you buy a game cube you gotta go out and buy new games and everything.
The hard drive still sounds like a ripoff though. especialy since you really dont even need it.

I will probally wait around a month or two, to make sure that there arn't gonna be any combo specials. Hey you never know :D. Then I will look at the recently released games and if they support it, not just one gmae but at least 5 or 6, then I will get it because I know that they are actuall gonna have games that supports it. BUT AOL, com on guys :(.

If the HDD will cost less then $100, yes. If Sony thinks the HDD will sell well for over $100, they've got another thing coming.

It's a good combo to have (harddrive/ethernet) and I don't think the price is that bad... it's certainly not cheap, but it's certainly not off the scale, you can find some pics of this combo along w/ the flat panel monitor and such at

PS2.IGN Here

I don't think that Sony would have a hard time convincing people to buy it... it's a really appealing combo and if people will want to play the games online, they'd have no choice but to get it. I am going to have to bite the bullet and spend almost the price of a Gamecube for this one =)

I'll only get the ethernet connection if possible. Honestly, I would throw my PS2 in the trash if it weren't for Final Fantasy. Actually.... I can live with out it.. hmm.... if anyone wants to buy my PS2, 3 controllers, memory card, and 4 games, PM me.

naa. i like my ps2, but i don't like addons. i will buy a gamecube and xbox plus some memcards. that's it for console hardware for me. If it came with three games worth $50 each i would buy it probably.
