PS2 modding.

ok, im wondering what you guys know about it. ive been to ps2-scene.org, and ps2ownz.com and read around a little. however i was wondering what you guys know about it. Like can you install media players on it to play media? i have a lot of movies ive ripped on my computer and wondering if i can play them on my ps2 like an xbox, since my xbox is being used by my brother, and i can only get the PS2. do you guys know of anything?

i dont exactly plan on playing burned copies of games, as there are modchips out there that only do homebrew apps etc. since a previous company got in big trouble. so i was thinking about one of those. do you guys have any suggestions.

I don't think PS2 modchips are good for much else besides backups/imports.

just read you can do a memory card exploit with a ps1 game in order to load programs onto your memory card...

Problem is, I believe, you still need to find a PS2 with a modchip to load the proper stuff onto the memory card.

You don't need to mod your ps2 to play medai stuff, there is a CD they use to sell in stores that did it. I doesn't see it much anymore. I think it was made by gameshark or proaction reply guys.

Yeah you do, unless you get the Hd program (either HD loader or HD advance). There are some programs that allow you to transfer files from the pc to the ps2 via the eithernet cable. You can do the memory card expliot with it.

Yeah I think the PS2..along with the PS1, DC, etc. just aren't worth modding to play media. IIRC, you have to:

1) compile disc (media + media player)
2) burn disc
3) watch disc
4) erase disc
5) GOTO 1

A networked xbox with XBMC (with or without a fat HDD) would justfiy getting one for yourself 😛
