I just got my son a PS2 and have a memory card question. Is the intent of the two card slots to have a PS2 card in one slot and a PS1 card in the others and thus cover all the game titles? Also, Ive also heard bad things about non-Sony cards. Nobody seems to have Sony and all I could get was an InterAct 8MB card (for Playstation 2). Should I return it? Thanks.

It has 2 slots so you can copy from one card to another (cheat)

PS2 card can only save PS2 games, PS1 can only save PS1 games (but you can backup PS1 saves to the PS2 card in the browser)

I wouldn't worry about the memory card brand. If you can get a sony brand card, then do, but don't worry about it if you can't. I've used a mad catz memory card in mine for over a year now and I've never had any data corruption/loss with it.

Some of the no-name brands are better than others. Unfortunately, I don't recall any names, but one card I've been using fine for two years, while both cards from another brand's two-pack were complete crap and usually couldn't even save a game successfully. The Sony cards are completely problem-free, and just feel better constructed than the other ones (if that's possible for such a small piece of plastic). Most games stores around me have a couple different off-brands, so you can always ask for a recommendation from a salesperson.
