Does anyone know if most of the PS2 games out right now can be backuped on CDR? I've heard that most games will eventually be DVD based... has that time arrived?

Yes - most of the newer games are DVD-based.

Many PS2 games are still CD based but it doesn't really matter because even when you "backup" (AKA rent from store and copy; lets be honest here) a PS2 game on CD you need a modded PS2 to access that CD because as far as I know there is no way to make a perfect copy of it and so you need to mod your PS2 so that it will read the pirated - I mean backed up version.

Actually I honestly meant "backup" when I wrote this thread. 😛 I have about 10 games or so and wouldn't mind having a little insurance when my younger relatives or friends come to play. Damn games are too expensive to replace.

You can backup most of your PS2 games already. Most aren't DVD, so its ok. And a few that are DVD aren't all DVD size, so backing them up isn't too difficult.
