XBox and Gamecube have had individual months where they surpassed PS2 sales, but neither one is even close to catching up in total units sold.
You do need to realize that the numbers quoted here sound accurate, but this is a worldwide base. Number for the US would prove to be a little closer, but with the PS2 base still in the lead by quite a margin. Remember that Japan has not taken to the XBOX, and the good ol' USA hasn't taken too well to the Gamecube until just recently.Originally posted by: BigSmooth

Definitely. I think I read the PS2 install base is around 60 million, with XBox and GC way behind at around 10 million.
The price cut on the GC has breathed a little bit of life into it for now, but Sony is the dominant player in the industry.
Actually, it's been selling very well since the price drop to $99. Just that November was it's best month since 🙂.Originally posted by: Staples
Only in Nov did it sell well.

Overall, the Xbox and the GC are probably even in term of units sold (11m). PS2 has some huge number like 60m so neither 2nd nor third place are anywhere close to the lead. GC sold really well in Nov and they make it sound as though it has been selling well all year but that is not so. Only in Nov did it sell well.
