I recently installed a fliptop on my PS2.
The swap magic CD works great, and it loads PS2 CDs great.
But for some reason I'm having issues loading the DVD. It appears to not recognize it when I insert it. I was able to load it once, but I haven't been able to load it since, after dozens of tries.
I know that the lasers go bad on PS2s often, but would that make sense considering it runs PS2 cd's perfectly, and also considering that it actually worked flawlessly once?
The DVD and the CD both appear to have no scratches, and I gave them a nice clean to make sure.
A friend said that PS2's have a "memory" of what type of media they contain, i.e. CD or DVD, and that the problem I'm having might have to do with it THINKING it has a CD so it can't read a DVD. He suggested ejecting the CD and loading the DVD (instead of inserting from the top via the fliptop). This is what worked the first time, but hasn't worked since...
If nobody knows, can someone refer me to another forum where I might be able to get an answer to this?
