Now, this happened 3 years ago(and still happens), I just couldn't be arsed to worry about it til now. My FF XII game freezes on one of the fights or cutscenes ( I can't remember which) near the end of the game so I have never finished it. Is that a disc issue, box issue, or?

But you know, I think I'm just going to get another one and another FF XII. Are used PS2s off Amazon sellers(the ones that have 100,000+ reviews and 95% or better satisfied ratings) a good bet? Sucks that PS3s won't play PS2 games or I could just save up for one and kill two birds with one stone.

If you have a GameStop in your area, that's where I'd go. Might pay a little more, but if you get a unit with a bad drive, you just go back and swap it out for another one. Fairly quick and easy compared to dealing with returning something bought off Amazon.

PS3 with backward compatibility has a premium. Better off with a PS2 which will be more accurate anyway. Native hardware platform is always superior.

Freezing at movies and fights, especially specific ones, is always a disc problem.
Problems with the disc drive usually won't even boot the game or won't recognize random discs if any.
