Hey guys, not sure where else to ask console questions around here. I was wondering if anyone would know why my (old) PS2 won't work with my component cable. I just got a nice new TV and I bought a Sony component cable to hook my PS2 up with, and it the picture is all garbles (no v-hold, and the picture is purplish)

Do the older PS2's not support component output?

Older PS2's do support component video output.

Turn on the PS2 - on the main menu, be sure "component" is selected. Try switching between 4:3 & 16:9 modes, as it may make a difference. Report back :p

I'm also thinking that if I can't fix this problem, I'll just sell mine and swap it for one that'll work with the component output - someone with a newer PS2 who doesn't use a component output who'll trade for a perfectly working PS2? :p

Ah maybe that's it - my friend's PS2 didn't need any changes to work with the component cable - so I assumed mine didn't either

I'll try that when I get home :) Thanks Nakamichi! :)
