PS2: difference between dual shock & dual shock 2?

Kev

Lifer
I got a PS2 but need a 2nd controller. The Dual Shock 2 costs more than the Dual Shock, but as far as I can tell, they're both the same thing. Is there a difference?

I think it had to do w/ the PS2 controllers having button sensitivity. Like when u play certain games, it reacts on how hard u push a button.

dual shock 2 has 'analog' buttons.....

like in gran tourismo 2, the harder you press on the button, the more gas.... something like that.

And the Dual Shock from the PS1 doesn't work with all PS2 games. When my dual shock 1 was plugged into controller port 2, Summoner crashed a lot.

<< Each button on the Dual Shock 2 has eight levels of sensitivity. >>

Actually its 256, but you can't in practice get anywhere near that precise. Still, it does make a difference in some games, contrary to what I believed before I used it myself.
