PS2 controller to USB

I have this PSX to USB device from RadioShack. It worked fine on my old setup but with this new setup I can't get it to recognize in windows. Here's what I have

Abit AN8 ULTRA motherboard.
AMD 3200+

I did a clean format and install of XP Pro after installing the new mobo and CPU. Now after I load up the drivers I plug in controller and I get a pop up from the system try that says "USB Device not Recognized". I've tried every USB port I have. I don't know whatelse to try. I've load the USB drivers that were on the motherboard disc. Any suggestions please help. Here's a link to the USB adapter I have. link

Did you install the adapter's drivers?

Yes, i've installed everything you can think of. I think the adapter might be shot because I just tried hooking it up to my grilfriends computer and it comes up with the same error on hers.
