ps2 controller to usb mods?

i remember seeing tutorials for this on the web before...i have an old usb cable (one end is smaller than the other, its used with my digi cam, is this ok?) and a used playstation (2) controller that i want to splice together. anybody have a link?

If you have a Fry's in your area then yes. Otherwise I'm not sure. Gamestop isn't really the kind of place that would have them; it's more of a computer thing.

The Shack is out of the "console entertainment" game.

Toys R Us might have it. Anything else computer-esque? I heard rumors BestBuy used to carry them.

Would you accept SNES to Joystick port?

(That would be a lot cooler if I could find a link to one of 'em)

Now here's a relevant question: has anybody seen a GameCube controller adaptor for PC, or a GameCube controller-shaped gamepad for PC? Frankly I love the GC controller. It's so very very comfortable.

Either one would be cool. There are probably Joystick Port to USB adapters.

Umm... don't you have a Joystick port? Frankly I'd rather use up an otherwise useless port than a USB port. Or are you on a laptop?

And yeah, they have USB->Joystick adaptors. Hard to find, but out there.

Why don't you just call them up and ask?

Yeah, I want to be able to run a SNES emulator on my laptop with an authentic controller.

How much did the logitech run you?

I still say the Kiky-X Series is the way to go. You can get PS2 driving wheels, light guns, dance pads, etc. a lot easier and sometimes a lot cheaper than PC versions.

acemcmac: What was the name of that adaptor that does N64 adaptors as well?

One last little thing: anybody know if a GameCube -> Dreamcast adaptor exists? Gamecube -> PS2 would work, even though there aren't enough buttons. I have a PS2 -> Dreamcast converter.

Or a PS2 controller shaped exactly like a GameCube controller. I found plenty like it, but they're always off in one way or another.

PS2 seems to be the standard for some reason. I mean XBox and PS2 have the same number of buttons (right?) yet I can't find any XBox->PS2 converters. I have a PS2->XBox/GameCube adaptor though. Works pretty well.

Yeah, I want to be able to run a SNES emulator on my laptop with an authentic controller.

Click on my webpage in my sig and go to the Emubox section. You can make a parallel port to SNES adapter. That is, if your laptop has a parallel port...

Most laptops do. I've yet to see one that doesn't.

Otherwise they make a USB->LPT adaptor.

P.S. Hey, do you have anything about getting a six-button Genesys controller converted to either Parallel or Joystick port?

this link seems to support genesis pads. There's a few diagrams for the parallel port interfacing on that site under "Supported Interfaces"
I haven't used this particular program, but in the user manual, it says it supports the 6button pad.
