pc club 50pk leda data for $39.99 is good if u have a pc club nearby. compusa generics should work as well. ps2 should read MOST dvd-rs pretty well. it's not as picky as the xbox. jus go buy the cheapest one and i bet it'll work.

btw, most of you hot dealers are rude as f*ck. it's no wonder the best deals get posted on f@t w@llet first.

I bought the 25 pack @ PC CLub and it didn't work, so I guess I'll try the CompUSA brand.

Thanks for the reply tho!

Be careful which brands you use...not all are healthy for the laser because. I hear Verbatims are one of the best....they are also one of the more expensive brands but then again how much to replace the laser?

I know this post should be closed but here's my 2cents on this:

I bought the 25-Pack DVD-R from PC Club a while ago (for $19.99!). They worked great. Burn at 2X just fine.

I haven't burned PS2 (Don't you need a modded PS2 to be able to play?) but I burned some movies on PC club DVD-Rs and they played very well on my PS2.

Please tell me I don't need a mod chip to play PS2 games. :D

No. The ones who don't read forum rules are nothing more than your mere average joe. Don't tell me you read all the disclaimer stuff everytime you sign up for something. Those who act like their mom was killed by someone not knowing the rules are the rude ones. NO ONE owes you a hot deal so don't act like it when someone makes a mistake.

You do not need a mod chip if you use a gameshark...

That's not the full story and you know it. Don't give the guy half ass info.

You either need a mod chip (I use a Magic 3.1) if you want to direct boot everything. If you don't mind swapping discs, and don't want to soldier in your ps2, then you could go the swap magic/flip top lid route. There are also no-soldier mod chips out there but they also use some sort of swapping routing (either swap magic or gameshark). This isn't really the forum for discussing this type of information though.

Your best bet if you want to play backups painlessly would be to get a no-swap mod chip (like the Magic 3.1 or Messiah 2).

At first, I used Apple DVD-R's, and they worked beautifully. However, I recently "backed up" some games using CompUSA branded DVD-Rs, and they seem to work just as well.

I think the most important factor is that I always burn at 1x, even though I have a 4x Pioneer 105.
