PS goes on, but no boot messaging

Hi Everyone:

This is my first post, so if this is in the wrong forum, then sorry! But here's my problem. I recently inherited some mobos and chips and what not and in the process of putting them into the case. Now when I hit the ON button, one of a couple of htings occur:

1. The fans start running and but no boot msgs from the mobo.
2. The computer starts booting up but stalls at "Verifying DMI Boot Data"
3. Nothing happens at all.

I'm toying with the idea that there mght be a short between the case and the boards somehow, but i don't know if that's the case.

Any idea as to why this is happening? Thanks guys!

The first thing I do in that situation is take everything out of the case. Then put the mb on a box or magazine and hook up on the psu, cpu and hsf, memory and video card/monitor. Turn it on and see if it'll go into bios.
