So I have been debugging crashes of my PS CS3 installation on very large photomerge operations (68 images merged to create one image). I discovered that PS didn't like my underclocked Northbridge. After setting the RAM speed and CAS latency lower, I was able to regain stability, albeit at a 100MHz slower.
Well how about that. None of the memory tests out there could crash the system with the old setup. I think it could have something to do with massive HD caching (150GB swap file) that continued uninterrupted for at least 3 hours. Temps on the HD were high (50 degrees), but everything works now.
What peripherals hang off the AMD Northbridge that could be causing problems with the 800MHz NB speed?
