PS Adjustable Fan Question

Are the power supplies with the adjustible fan, such as the Enermax EG365P-VE (FCA/FMA) worth the extra cost? Is there a benefit from getting a FCA or FMA version? I know FCA is Fan On/ Off Controlled by M/B & Adjustable and FMA is Fan Speed monitored by M/B & Adjustable, but can somebody explain to me these benefits? Or should I just settle for something without the controllable fans? Thanks.

the fans on the enermax's arent very good, i'd say they are pretty useless at pushing air, just my opinion though .. good luck ..

I don't really think PSU fans do as much as they claim. There are a lot of wires and such blocking the flow in the PSU. Not to mention the mediocre amount of air that is allowed through the grills of the PSU chasis. I don't think it's worth it, unless there isn't a noticeable cost difference.

Well, the models I am looking at all have fans, except some of them have the other option of adjustible fans. So I'm just wondering what the benefits of having adjustible fans were? To be able to turn them off so it's more quiet? Or to turn them up higher during hot days? Or what else? Thanks again.

sometimes the fan can be noisy when it's lopsided.. or not spinning perfectly in a circle..

the adjustments will change the rpm's and thus changing the alignment and thus changing the noise...

I have the enermax, not the adjustable fan, the original "whisper fan" ones.. i have taken the fan grill off, the amount of air being pushed is nothing to write home about .. if you wanted to mod a more powerful fan, then go for it, but as it is, dont let it be a purchasing factor .. just my thoughts ..
