I have an SX-830 (which seems quite similar to the SX-1030).

There are a variety of power cables with the standard PC (4-conductor) power plugs, some with two plugs, one with three plugs, etc.

Does it make any difference which you use for which card or drive? Should certain cards/drives be on different power cables?

What I was wondering about was whether the same thing applied as in plugging in AC wires (especially for audio gear), IE that perhaps certain things should not be plugged into the same cable?

For example, there are two cables with one regular plug and one floppy plug, one cable with three regular plugs, another one (or two) with two plugs. And, some of the devices also provide a power connection (so that you don't lose one by using that device).

I do know that they are all will "work", but I wonder if there is any more subtle factors at work --- that might be known by the sort of person who reads these forums and who buys a very expensive cooler to get 3 more mhz out of his CPU. :D

In general, just try to get a nice neat install, spread the current draw around if you have an abnormally large # of devices, try to plan ahead for anticipated expansion. Self-stick plastic clamps work well, as do zip-ties and occasionally HD stick-on velcro. With my sx1030, I ran all the power cables on the left(door) side, the ribbon cables against the right side, and the mobo cable inside the psu support channel. worked out real neat. Better o/c? maybe from the better airflow. Try not to run more fans than necessary from the mobo connectors, un-monitored fans are better than smoking traces on the mobo!
