Just got a new PS. It has a three pin fan connector (with 2 wires). I am pretty sure it is for PS fan speed sensing, but what will it do if I plug it into one of the mobo fan headers? Is this for just measuring the PS fan speed or does it provide any control? I am using a Soltek SL-75FRN2L mobo.

Yes, you can connect it to one of the mobo fan headers if you want. It's not reequired, but IMO that fan is more important to monitor than any other system fan besides the CPU fan. My PSU didn't have a speed sensing fan, so when I was in there for something else, I put one in for extra peace of mind.

Thanks. I just took my old Enermax apart and could see that the rear fan actually has two cables, one for power from inside PS and the other runs outside for speed sensing. I hadn't though about it, but the PS supply fan sensing is probably pretty critical, especially on my new PS since it only hasone large fan. Will have to hook it up next time I have the computer openned up.

My TruePower 430 was wired up the same way. When I changed fans my 92mm got the rmp monitor wires since my rear fan doesn't support monitoring.
You really don't have to hook up the rpm monitoring, but I remember the last time I had a PS fan failure and almost lost a processor do to a massive heat increase.
