I want to use a certain keyboard with a PS/2 connector on a USB only PC and want to try a passive adapter first since they're about $1. I realize reviews say they sometimes have problems. Does anyone know if this style contains anything more than this style?
Someone in an amazon review said they opened the Y style and it had a capacitor or resistor in it.

FYI, I know they make active connectors that cost more like this, but I wanted to try one of the $1 ones first.

Don't bother, unless the keyboard shipped with an adapter.

Just get the active converter.

USB to PS/2 is sketchy to begin with, I can't imagine PS/2 to USB being any better without some sort of active conversion between them. Spend the extra and do it right IMO.

Thanks for the advise, but that's why I included the last sentence. It's not worth getting the active one. If the $1 one doesn't work, I'm not interested.
Anyone know if there is any difference in the two I linked, other than the splitter?

Unlikely. I wouldn't waste a buck on those, though.
