PS/2 mouse in Debian

Debian squeeze, fresh install. I am new to linux, and do not know how to work/change/update the drivers under linux. I have installed the mdetect package but nothing happened. I have searched the Debian pages and under their hardware section the mouse is missing.
In /var/log/Xorg.0.log the device is listed as ImPS/2 Logitech Wheel Mouse.
There are also /dev/input/mice, /dev/input/mouse0 and /dev/psaux files which they are empty.
I hope this means something to you.

From another site i found a post saying that after mdetect you must run "dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86" (it was an old post).

The mouse is almost okay. The scroll does not work and neither the right mouse button.
