PS/2 keyboard stopped working

my PS/2 keyboard stopped working after I swapped hard drives. it flashes the 3 Lock key lights during POST, but I get no response from the keyboard to try to get into the BIOS or in Windows. I tested it out on another computer, and the keyboard works fine.

so, before I go out and buy an USB keyboard, is there any possible fix to get the PS/2 port to work or is it just dead now? thanks

Try resetting CMOS?

Symptoms of a dead ps2 slot would make me think:
Your PSU is dying and taking out some of the motherboard
Your motherboard is dying and taking out some of the components

If you disconnected the PS2 keyboard while the computer was running, it's possible to blow a "fuse" on the motherboard. There were boards with "fuses" and boards with "circuit breakers", both to protect against further motherboard damage that can, theoretically, be caused when removing a PS2 device when power is on.

the PS/2 port is working again. I'm guessing the issue was a short somewhere. the motherboard isn't as firmly in place as I'd like it to be due to quality of standoffs and screws, so there's a bit of wiggle when I put pressure on the motherboard (like the SATA port).

This could cause grounding issues with everything attached to the motherboard.
