hey guys i wanted to extend the reach of my ps/2 keyboard so i used a usb ps/2 adapter and a usb extension but then it's been working normal in typing and all but in games like when i'm pressing w to move forward the chracter will stop after a sec or two and i've to hit the key again to make him move.....it's happening in all games but not in other stuff.

and ya i've checked my keyboard connecting it directly to ps/2 port for a while

From what you say, it is not working properly. When you connected directly to the PS/2 port did it work for the game in question?

If it works OK there, then don't use the USB/PS2 adapter and extension. Get a PS/2 extension cable.

Sorry, corkyg, but in this particular case you were giving him bad advice. I have had many PS/2 keyboards and used many different USB adapters for them, quite frankly the USB adapter in question is designed badly for gaming. His keyboard is almost certainly fine, this is a problem I have seen plague cheap ps/2 to usb keyboard converters, about 80% of them.

Getting a PS/2 extension or a native USB keyboard would be the best bet, but don't think your keyboard has a problem, it's the USB adapter being a cheap POS doing that.

It probably sends commands to the OS and not the game like a directly connected PS2 keyboard.

Real quick is why do you still have a PS2 keyboard? Spend the $25 and get a snazzy USB one :D

I think we're saying the same thing.

"When you connected directly to the PS/2 port did it work for the game in question? If it works OK there, then don't use the USB/PS2 adapter and extension. Get a PS/2 extension cable. "

PS2/USB adapters have a problem with timing of certain signals. This has been a long standing problem.

My advice basically said either get a USB keyboard or use pure PS/2.

I meant your first post, hon. :) That's why I said "were". I chose my words carefully.

Cool! Never ignore a person's last words. And, as one of two options, the first reply was not bad advice - but selective.
