Our best buy has put broadband access on our tech bench. We have a proxy server address and port and it works fine if we configure it in IE LAN settings. We use a linksys router v3 with the DHCP enabled.. and we want any IP address to use that proxy as well.. is there a way to configure this in the linksys router?

Also.. when i configured it only on 1 pc connected to the router- it didnt have access to the other computers using that same router.. i enabled the "bypass proxy for local addresses"??

any help is greatly appreciated.

Did you just say that bestbuy uses jsut some cheap linksys router ?
Also.. when i configured it only on 1 pc connected to the router- it didnt have access to the other computers using that same router.. i enabled the "bypass proxy for local addresses"??

Does it work ? I don't know exactly what they mean by that, but I figure it would be something along the lines of not forwarding to the proxy if the address is on the same subnet.

I dont think IE proxy settings can be configured for DHCP use in the Linksys router. The router's DHCP basically only gives IP address, Subnet mask, and default gateway. You would need to configure each computer's browser seperately. If you want browser access to the other computers configure to bypass in the browser proxy settings. But, thats mostly if the other local computers are hosting a http server. That would be unusual. Usually, connectivity between computers on the same subnet does not go through the router. The router only acts as a gateway off the local subnet. Check the IP settings for each computer. If they are on the same subnet, they should be able to ping each other.

ya i got the network nodes to see each other fine now.. and since the linksys router doesnt have many settings like the cisco ones do.. ive been working on a program that would reside on teh server HD and ran remotly.. it will basically change the registry to configure IE to use the proxy.. and then when the program is unloaded(closed) it will change it to no proxy.. this way we can just type \\server\internet and get internet access (some of the techs arent that technical)..lol

but thanks for the help guys
