I have a friend that is running Proxy+ to serve pages from a DSL line to the other puters on his network. He has the DSL modem plugged into the uplink of his switch.
Since connecting to his DSL service requires a connection through WinPOET it must be working because the Proxy server is the only computer with WinPOET installed. All his other computers have their gateway set to the IP of the proxy computer, and their own IPs are 10.0.0.x or whatever.
Is this secure? It seems it would be since none of the computers can get to the Internet without going through his proxy.
Would this work with my cable modem? It seems it would be insecure since there is no "WinPOET" type of program required to connect.
