Proxy server to use on 2k box for a mac to share Internet

Heres the deal I am trying to save 100 bucks and not by a router to network three computers.
Computer 1 is attached to the DSL modems ethernet port.
Computer 2 is attached to the DSL modems usn port.
Computer 3 is going to be a new Macintosh (ugh) laptop that I want to attach with a crossover cable to computer 2's now vacent ethernet port. Is there any software that make this work. I want this to be as rescource inexspensive as possible.

Problem Solved. Turns out USB cables would end up costing almost exactly the same as a router and probably still would be a little to short.
