Proxy Client Name

UNLTuba

Senior member
I'm trying to figure out why my client name has suddenly changed from UNLTuba to cd4309-a.sxflls1.sd.home.com. All of my user_info.sah files read the correct client name (in all folders on both computers), but still they are reported as this new one. cd4309-a.sxflls1.sd.home.com is the "name" of my family's computer, so I know where the work units are coming from, but it seems that ALL work units (not just those coming from that computer) have been labeled as such. It used to be that all work units were labeled as being from UNLTuba. Any idea why this might be? It doesn't really matter to me as long as they're being counted - I'd just like to figure out why it suddenly changed when I haven't messed with anything. Thanks in advance... Just thought this was strange...

PS - Here is a link to what I'm refering to.

The descriptive name may have been lost during the problems Orange Kid was having last week. Email him and ask to change it back to UNLTuba. 🙂

I would guess this is the computer you had problems with?
Or this computer does not have a static IP

I either one of these is true...........not returning a completed WU in the last five days my SetiQueue has deleted the client and will thus loose it's 'name'.

Due to the large amout of users (on dialup) and the time to constantly change the clients from a machine name to something more personal..........I will not be doing this on a regular basis anymore.

However if you have a client that comes to me and has a static IP and will connect at least once every 5 days I will gladly set it to what ever name you wish.......a PM is the best way to accomplish this

Actually, the name change involves the work units from both computers - both changed at the same time, which was well after the trouble occured (and were both sending work units at least every day, although not necessarily at the same time as each other). They do use dynamic IP addressing though, so is that where the problem may be?
