ProtonMail is a new email service that is developed by a team of scientists working at the European Center for Nuclear Research (CERN) in Geneva, Switzerland. Our goal is simple: we want to protect people around the world from the mass surveillance that is currently being perpetrated by governments and corporations around the world.

Have any forum users worked with this yet? any problems using it?
Pay Pay stopped taking payments for it because it might be illegal.

Servers are in Switzerland and encrypted. Protected by Swiss privacy law. In Switzerland whistle-blowers go to jail no defense.

The closest thing I could find, as far as being a somewhat "technical" look at this, was here:

http://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/news/inside-look-protonmail-end-end-encrypted-email/2014/05/03

It is a little dated (March '14), but a couple paragraphs disturbed me a bit:

"The service also lets users send self-destructing messages for sensitive data. However, ProtonMail is currently missing a vital security measure – two-factor authentication. But Jason informed me that this will be implemented in the coming months."

"Another thing that bothered me was the captcha on the login page. It seems way too simple and it could easily be read by any decent OCR program, defeating the captcha’s purpose and making the login page subject to a “brute-force” attack. Hopefully this will be changed. Fortunately, ProtonMail requires two passwords to reach the inbox, which should slow down any brute-force attempt."

Thanks for the thoughts. I am tempted to donate and set up an account to see where it goes.
