Ordinances were enacted banning water guns, hatchets and chains – but not firearms because that would violate a state law barring local gun regulations. And the city of Tampa will bring in more than 3,000 officers from 59 law enforcement agencies from around the state, along with Florida National Guard troops, to patrol the streets.

I'm always amused by weapons regulations, particularly in states with incredibly permissive gun laws. Places where it's illegal to carry an "automatic" knife but you can walk around with a gun without too much trouble. Goes to show how much impact NRA lobbying has

It is just as dumb as those custom laws that allows kitchen knives but not daggers or switchblades over the border. As a criminal planning to kill somebody is going to be deterred because he only has access to a chef's knife which only purpose is to chop food.
