alright, well 3 days a week (M,W,F) I have PT (physical training) for the ARMY ROTC, where we essentially do different upper and lower body workouts, and then run. i plan to get into the habit of at least twice a week going to the school's main recreation center to do different combos of more upper and lower body weight training and probably run on the treadmill.
now.. question being, I need to get into getting protein into my body.
today I figure I am gonna have a steak at this place, because we have a PT test tomorrow, and that coupled with an instant breakfast drink tonight before bed, wearing heat wraps on my lower calves/shin area, and then drinking another instant breakfast drink tomorrow morning. That is all to hopefully one give my body the extra strength, but mostly to help my legs because they are starting to hurt. just got new running shoe gel inserts.. it's almost like I am getting shin splints, but not sure why... I got brand new running shoes (now broken in after a few weeks of PT), so it can't be them.
either way, my legs should hopefully be good tomorrow (wore heat wraps overnight last night too).
but, the proper portion of Instant Breakfast has only 5g of protein, and then the extra protein that the milk will have, which every 8oz of 1% has about 9g, so I am getting at least 14g in one instant breakfast drink, but thats really nothing.
i am looking into getting whey protein, plus I have protein bars that I plan to eat before working out when I start going to work out.
before PT I don't eat, I'll eat afterwards, but the instant breakfast doesn't cause a problem (its been in my stomach for around 30-45 minutes before we start workin out at PT).
so if I get into protein shakes, it would be drinking one before PT (or just generally in the morning on days I dont have PT), one before bed, and maybe one in the middle of the day.
I don't think it'd be a good idea to get into this until I actually start workin out reguarily.
is it fine to consume the same amount everyday, regardless if I end up not doing any kind of workout that day?
We have some.. like.. 8lb freeweights in our dorm, so that could constitute some workin out.
but what kind of protein diet would work for me? banana smoothies? not a big banana fan but oh well, and generally a REALLY picky eater.
