protecting your books

I'm going to be getting a book soon that is or will be pretty rare. Only a thousand were made.

So i'm wondering what will be the best way to protect this book from tears, bends, scratches, etc.?

what i'm thinking of doing is buying 2 of these books, one for reading and one for putting back as a collector's item because i want to read the book.

my uncle wrote a book, I think only 10 people bought it, does that make it rare?

no, if only 10 copies were made then its rare. 10 people buying it wouldn't make it rare

Get one of those food vacuum seal thingies and store it sealed that way. Also I would imagine you would want to keep it from light as much as possible.

My Madonna Playboy (last stapled issue) is encased in an acid free sleeve and again compressed (not too hard to get her blushing) between clear acid free solid 1/2 plastic........ but then again, it's not a "BOOK"

well what's the book?

why does it matter what book it is? doesn't change how to protect it.

humor me.

its a collection of Robert E. Howard's Conan stories. will it be worth anything? i don't know, but since only 1,000 were made it might be in several years. and i'd like to keep it in great condition in case.

Hire a bodyguard. If anyone starts to tear it or bend it, give them the authority to beat the shiznit out of them.

Of course, you could always just keep your playboys in a vault.
