y would u want that? are u doing soemthing illegal? dun dun dun dunnnnnnnnnnnnn

azureus is a torrent downloading app which means your are getting pirated movies and software and games.
A guy on another forum was noting that he got a DMCA cease and desist notice from his ISP after downloading a game.
He was a very knowledgeable user who used a high anonymous proxy. So he spent about an hour on the phone with his ISP"s tech trying to understand how they tracked him. Much to his surprise, proxies mean nothing to IP's now, they can find the real downloader in a minute.

So the days of being able to hide are over.

Go to www.lokitorrent.com and look at homepage

I don't use any of these programs myself, but I've seen that Ghost Surf Pro software on the shelves at CompUSSR and Best Buy. Supposedly when you log on to the Web, it routs your computer thru their own multiple servers to 'hide' your real IP address. I have no idea if it works, or how well -- I just know it exists. Anyone know about it?

Just get a wireless router, plug it up to your cable ot DSL modem and leave it a default settings. Then if you get caught, wipe your hard drive, play dumb (WEP? I don't know anything about WEP?) and blame it on wardrivers stealing your bandwidth. Even if your router is secured, there are more than enough holes in wireless security to allow a decent lawyer to create reasonable doubt that your router could have been compromised and your bandwdith used without your knowledge. Thus, it is probably nearly impossible to be busted to piracy and have it stick if you own a wireless router.

So if someone would happen to use my connecting for their downloading pleasure and they traced it would i be the one they trace or them?

They would trace it back to the IP address of your cable or DSL modem. The NAT that the router uses to handle your home network prevents anyone from telling exactly which computer attached to your router was the specific one that downloaded the file. Thanks to the magic of wireless networking, that computer doesn't necessarily have to be inside your home anymore. Just sitting in my apartment right now, if I scan for available access points with my laptop I can see three APs of my neighbors that are completely unsecured. One is actually named "LINKSYS" and another "NETGEAR".
