Protected CDs - where to complain?

I've got a few titles now that play terribly or won't play at all in my wifes car cd player (2000 honda passport, six disc CD player).

This is driving her nuts and me insane because they're recent titles, like Kid Rock's latest one. The discs play fine in most other players.

Anybody have a place I can gripe to? Congressman or lawyer I can write?

I knew this was comming..but these are commerical cd's? Not rips? And they won't play in your car player? I'd hate to go back to it but can analog cassettes be made from the cd's or does the copy guard muck that up too?
 
Complain with your wallet. Don't buy 'em.

I'd raise hell with the retail store and see if I could get a refund.

If enough people did this...
 
Store bought CDs. I've got thousands.

But a few recent titles have trouble.

How about a site that lists what titles have the "protection". Please keep in mind my intent is purely legal and ethical. I need to write a few letters to make sure that the responsible party is aware of this "fair use" violation.
 
Take them back to the store and demand a refund because they won't play. If they insist on an exchange for same title only, accept it (you have to be fair, and give it a try), then return that one. Tell them you've had two different CDs of that title and they will not work in your player, and you aren't going to be stuck with a CD that doesn't work.

When the retailers get fed up with people doing that, they will put pressure on the record labels to quit trying to "protect" CDs. After all, the retailers are the ones who buy most of the product, and they carry a lot of weight with the labels.
 
If it says Compact Disc on the CD or package you can give it back to the store already opened for a full refund since the product is a fraudalent product. A Disc must meet certain criteria (Found under Red Book) to be called a Compact Disc under the Philips Electronics Patent.

It's like buying a watch advertised as a Rolex and you buy and take it home or to another Jeweler and find out it is a fake. You bet you will be taking it back for a full refund and they should be sued too.
 
Do what any real music fan would do. Download the CD and spend your money going to their concerts instead. 😉
