Never realized how pervasive gift card fraud is or how many ways there are to scam.

Snopes says be careful when buying gift cards. Especially if the unactivated cards are accessible to the public, or if you're buying on ebay.

And now that this info is on snopes, I expect it to be an even bigger problem.

honestly.....it doesnt really matter.

ive been in retail for a long time now, almost a decade. in all aspects of it too.......

i agree with some of the stuff in there.......BUT

buying from a clerk is just as bad, if not easier for fraud. i had quite a few cashiers write down the gift card numbers that they had in their register. then when they sold one they had the number for a now active card.

honestly......its just being unlucky.

Good advice.

An easy way to protect from Gift Card fraud is to give cash. Although others may disagree I see giving a gift card is equal in thought/caring as giving cash, but not as useful.
