Have you guys in your teen and early 20's ever had it done? I'm due for a regular check up and the doctor wants to include prostate exam as a part of the package :|:|:|

He didn't say anything about cancer in particluar, but a prostate exam in general which I'm pretty sure involves the traditional finger method, but

I thought it was only necessary once you hit 40 or so and every few years thereafter to check for prostate cancer

well some of you are making wise-cracks and acting immature.

man I hate any kind of medical exams. Long wait in the waiting room, being exploited by doctor, come home with slightly lighter wallet.

Had to get testicular cancer exam(i'm sure many of you guys did too) a few years back and this being the first time, getting examined by the doc, having him explain how to do it and sent home with a instruction sheet was bad enough and I seriously that that would be the last uncomfortable exam nightmare I have to go through.

I don't know, for me it would be the point.

I have some kind of horrible fear of things going inside various orificies of my body.

Get over it dude.

Women get a pelvic exam at least once a year starting in their early teens. You should be able to handle getting hit in the seat once every few years...

I don't really think jerboy has a problem with that aspect of it (He bats from both sides of the plate if you catch my meaning):D

just a sadistic doctor doing it would not be any fun

Maybe you'll get lucky and get the treatment that the Stiffler guy got in "Road Trip"

It's be coming more standard these days, but if you don't want to do it, don't. But, early detection is the best way of not getting prostate cancer and having to have it removed.

I knew this was Jerboy I was dealing with here, but I decided NOT to make that semi-tasteless comment. It's good to see there are others with worse taste than me. ;)

The problem with early detection of prostate problems is that it doesn't necessarily help you to know... :(

If your doctor recommends it to you and you are in your twenties, you either have some other symptoms (bloody feces or uncontrolled itching  ) or he's a perv.

Excellent point, Mwilding. :D Young men can get prostate cancer too - better to head it off at the pass, so to speak, by enduring a few moments of discomfort and embarrassment every year.

Buckle up and do it though. A few minutes of discomfort vs a lifetime having a colostomy bag strapped on your side...no contest dude

I'm 26, and I had two of them recently(two different visits). Turns out it was a bit saggy(the first time). I went on antibiotics and went back 2 weeks later to make sure all was well. It's not a big deal. Just bend over and relax. It helped that my doc had small fingers. Constant sex while trying to get your wife pregnant can do some strange things to you.

<< well so far you guys are only making wise-cracks about it when i was just asking a simple question if you had it done or not before hitting 30 or so.

If you read my first post, you will see I did not make any smart-ass remarks.

Smart Ass? How do you know it's smart until you pass your exam? ;)

Seriously though, most of the replies have been serious. Maybe you are a little sensitive in that area? Try not to get sore...

(I could play this game for hours... :D )

Not even doctors want to check your prostate unnecessarily. He must have a good reason. I get one every year. It's no big deal. It's over in 5 minutes. My father died of prostate cancer. You don't want to do the same, believe me. He might just be checking for an enlarged prostate. Now they test the prostate through blood tests anyway. But the ol' finger method has to be done too some times too.

Forget which comic said this but he was sooo right.

"If you have a hole anywhere in your body, some Doctor will specialize in it. :D

Prostate exam: Not a big thing but get the PSA blood test also.
