Pros/Cons of getting a nintendo DS for a 13 year old over a gamecube

He has a younger sister and brother so there is bound to be much fighting. What I am most concerned about is durability.

Anyone have any insight? Would gamecube be a better purchase? (they asked for gamecube but I doubt they even know about DS yet, and the surprise might be sweet)

Two different systems, two types of games for each. They can't play the DS simultaneously like they can the GC. I can see your heart is in the right place, but if they asked for a GC, then get them a GC.

It has 2 screens, cut it in half and give each of them a screen.

Aye. I jsut decided to apply logic to the buying process, and therefore factored in GC's eminent EOL.

GC's EOL is 2 Christmases away. Let's do the math.

GC system new is $99.99. For that $99.99, you get the system, one controller, Mario Kart Double Dash ($49.99 value), and a $15 GC towards another new GC game ($15 value).

$99.99-$49.99-$15 = $35 / 2 years = best video game bargain this Christmas.
