Every time you run the drier 35 minutes instead of 30 minutes results in an increase of about 16% more for either electric or gas. Plus, the better models have a cool-down period where they tumble the clothes without adding heat (after they've buzzed to let you know they're done) - that keeps the clothes from getting all wrinkly if you're not around to take them out. We just replaced our drier and went from electric to gas. I've never been more happy with an appliance decision.
p.s. Don't forget to shop around, then use price-matching plus 10% wherever you buy it at. (buy it at the most expensive place, pricematched to the least expensive place when the cheap place has them on sale - maximizing the amount of the 10%!
