I have no new pros and no new cons. But... it's something you should do... at least for a year.

Went to UCI, dormed in Mesa Court too

nice privacy (I had a single room though)
most people got along with their roommates pretty well, some didn't
food wasn't too bad
lots of fun activities planned by the RA and community programmers
overall great experience

love my apartment more though, since there's more freedom to drink, etc.

Went to UCR, lived in each dorm in various settings.

Each complex has a different atmosphere alright. If you plan to go here, plan accordingly.

Aberdeen/Inverness ResHall
Pro - good social, large study areas
Con - oldest, cannot control climate control. Smallest desks. 3 person "loft" room is bad layout.

Lothian ResHall
Pro - Newer (Eastside)
Con - crowded, worse parking

Pentland Hills
Pro - Newest. Private shower and toilet/sink areas. Comfortable lounges, suite living.
Con - Gas leak smells(old side), longest walk to campus (5 minutes) of any dorm. Arrogant rich kids live here.

But go for dorms, you meet people. Thats the only useful function I can think of. This BS about "higher grades in dorms", ha. I got worse grades ever in dorms. Plenty of interaction of people if you know what I mean.

pro's = meet a lot of people

con's = it sucks. Seriously it's fun for the first year, but then the novelty wears off. I love living in an apt way off campus, you can't beat it.
