I have had the new HK AVR 630 receiver for a little more than a week, and it I love this thing.

Well, the wife and I were away for a couple days, and a college student where my wife teaches watched them. That's good.

The Bad- Her boyfriend.

He came over and was visiting her and our kids (he has met them before and was pretty good with them), and while he was here decided to fool around with my receiver, which I would not normally mind, but instead of pushing buttons, he must have thought the LCD display was a button, because he pushed it enough to break it. Not easy, and not bright. Of course he didn't bother to tell us, I had to find out from the kids, and he certainly thought to stick me with the repair. I was definitely not happy.

So, I called Harmon Kardon, expecting to have to buy a new (and probably expensive) remote.

To my surprise, they are sending me a new one. Just like that. All I needed to do was fax them a copy of my sales receipt, and it's on it's way. No fussing, and I don't have to return the other one first, in fact not at all. And no, I did not try a fast one. I told the rep exactly what happened.

I strongly recommend this company to those looking for an audio product, because the quality of their line is first rate, and now because of this very good customer service experience.

That is a sweet deal! I'll have to remember that when I buy a theater setup. Don't take it out on the girl. Tell her that the next time she baby-sits for you, her BF isn't welcome. How dense do you have to be to push the remote so hard the screen breaks...

wait...first you say LCD, then you say remote? I'm confused. :) And I concur, H/K makes some great stuff...but man, after working only a few days at my new job, Denon's products are really growing on me. Hopefully by the middle of next year, I'll be able to sell my 320 here or on HTF and grab a 3802 and DVD-2200.

Not to mention a Velodyne Digital Drive 10 :p

There's prolly an LCD screen on the remote.

Yep, the screen displays which mode it's in and the device it's controlling. The remote actually works, but you can't get specific info out of it, which I would need to set it for controlling another device.

Why would you buy a Denon 3802?? The 3802 is last year's model. Plus, the 3803 is being phased out now and making way for the release of the 3804 receiver which should be some time in the new year. After owning a few Denon receivers (AVR-1802 and AVR-1803), I am quite happy with my H/K AVR-7200 -- which simply rocks the house. My biggest complaint of the Denon receivers is their extremely small readout on the receiver. If you are 7 or 8 feet away, you can't tell what the readout indicates because it is so small. H/K on the other hand, provides a nice, big readout. Other than that, Denon makes some good gear.

I'm glad H/K was so responsive to provide a new remote. That is truly excellent customer service.

Cool...I haven't seen the newest line, since I'd actually been successful at not upgrading anything until I can afford a projector. After that, it'll be hell on my mind again: "speakers, sub, receiver, amp!?"

I have the same remote with my H/K AVR-7200. The remote is soooooooo smooth. I didn't realize H/K was including this remote with their new receivers - but, sure enough, they are with the 630. :)

Well, most factory car systems stink. Were you surprised?? Just because the speakers say H/K on them, it doesn't mean that BMW paid more than $4.00 for them.

lol, well first: calm down...even if I didn't make a mistake, there's nothing wrong with a 3802...but I was still a little drunk when I typed that, so yes, I meant a 3803, as the 3804 will be out at CES, and hopefully we'll have clearance employee prices thereafter. As for the small readout on the receiver, that doesn't bug me in the slightest, as it's fairly obvious to me what function I'm on, even if running 2 zones.
