Proposing...how to get her there without knowing?

So at my school (Purdue) it's tradition to ask your girl to marry you under the clock tower.

So...my question is, since she (they all know) knows the tradition, how does one get her there and be totally unexpected when you ask the question?

I had some ideas, which included your buddies kidnap her, take here there and you are there when they untie her, etc. But those are bad ideas because she'd kick you in the nuts.

Any ideas?

By the way...I'm not going to propose. I got the ideas from this article where she claims she knew.

The clock tower is sort of in the middle of campus. Don't you pass by there enough that she wouldn't suspect anything when you're about to propose?

You need to start some kind of routine where you walk by/under it regularly, then, one day, just stop and pop the question.

or you could begin to make a habit of going to the clocktower for a little bit on walks and stuff. so when you did propose, she wouldnt suspect anything. but...that requires some long term planning (which i hope you're good at!)

oh, and good luck!

Not WITH her!

The only other possibilities would be on the way to an exam, which would be a bad idea, as the stress would cause her to fail, and the "what did I just do" feeling would cause me to fail.

Ask her to go for walks with you after classes are done. Always walk by the tower. Do this for a week or two then on one of the walks, ask her.

Good luck!

well obviously hire a construction crew and steal the clock tower, then put it in a non-suspicous place. you'd do it if you truely love her.

HAHAHA, that's a great idea. I still think the kidnapping idea is clever too.

Okay... I don't know where you live. But this is my hypothetical senario. Have a romantic dinner at the Union (there's a pretty posh restaurant there right? I don't really remember). Walk her home (assuming the clock tower is between the Union and her place), near the clock tower, say that they're something in your shoe and move closer to the tower to lean over for support, then get down like you need to take your show off..... propose.

Edit: Or you can just skip all that and suggest to do a fountain run. That should get you close enough to the clock tower.

Easy. Make plans to go to some event and tell her you'll meet her somewhere on campus, so she suspects nothing. Next time, make plans to another event and meet her at the clock tower.

shoot forget that proposing under the clock tower. here is something better. take a picture of the clock tower with a camera and then blow it up to like 8 x 6. go somewhere else and propose and give her the picture of the clock tower and a ring. something unique....

you know what would be great? if the ring was in your shoe. So you are like, damn! there's something in my shoe! and you take it off and you reach in the shoe and pull it out and say something cheesy like, I think you might know a better place for this. hahahah!

Wasn't it just a few days ago that you were complaining about how you couldn't stand her a few days every month and you were going to dump her? Maybe you should take her to the clock tower, act like you are going to propose and then say "I think we should see other people"

The kidnapping idea is very dangerous in regards to her wanting to fight for her life and something bad happening.

Two heavy hittering muthas and a rag with a knockout drug....

you can even get the opportunity to save her later.

Make sure she has a good heart though.

Here's an idea. Set it up so she starts recieve really weird messages (not like "psycho" weird) w/ riddles and such. Send her on a scavanger hunt *obviously she doesn't know it's you* like she has a secret admirer. Each different message has a clue as to where to go next...Have her end up at the clock tower, emerge from a hiding place and propose to her.

Kind of like "Super Market Sweeps". The only catch is to make the msgs intriguing enough for her to WANT to do the hunt.

You can get elaborate and have people (not your friends...big give away) waiting at each point so it's not so "I'm a freak that's been watching you and want to rip you to pieces" type thing.

Is this clock tower on the way to anything? If it is, then there are plenty of excuses to just innocently walk by it during anytime of the day, and pop the question. Chose the time when she's least expects it, like between class, or when there are lots of people around.

Mango,
He thinks she's going to say yes to a marriage proposal,
you think she's going to go on a scavenger hunt to meet a secret admirer....
Not gonna work.

Picture idea rules, so far, if the clock tower thing is a rqmt. Otherwise do it in a different place/way... then it will surely be a surprise. ;)

I have a survey that says 9 out of 10 girls would love to go on a scavanger hunt before asking to be married. Eat it.
