So, I am proposing to my director to relocate me to another location in the US. It is a transfer across state lines. I have written the document and I believe it will be extremely beneficial to my company.

-IF- it goes through, what can I expect with a transfer? Do companies typically give you a few days off to move? To they help with relocating costs? Is a cost of living raise too much to as for? what about a % of the cost of living change?

Anyone with any experience in doing this?

ALL of this depends on your companies policies.

Many companies do not help with relocation, unless you are of Director level or higher.

check with your HR department for your companies specific policies.

There is really no way to gauge something like this - I've seen very small (10-50 employee) companies give $10k moving allowances and I've seen very large companies give absolutely nothing at all.

It sounds like you wrote up what you want position-wise yet didn't mention pay which means they're probably just going to flat out tell you No to avoid it altogether.

So, indicating in the proposal that I would like X dollars more a year, moving costs paid for, etc. would be appropriate? (I haven't submitted it yet)

an easier thing to do would just be ask for X bonus to be used to pay for relocation (or event easier - just build those costs into what you are asking for in salary). some companies will reimburse, some will give a flat amount. but really simplest will just be to get them to pay you without the extra strings.

Speaking as someone who has moved cross country twice for my job I only have two pieces of advice for you.
1. MAKE SURE YOU GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING.
2. If you are leasing your living space and the company offers to pay to break your lease make sure you get the money to cover the breaking of said lease before breaking it.
