Hi Everyone

Would like some advice on this proposed system :

Cooler Master Wave Master £102.29
Antec Neo Power Supply 480W ATX2.0 PSU £88.07
AMD 64 Athlon 3500 90nm £182.49
AMD Heatsink Thermalright XP-120 w/vantec stealth £41.07
Asus A8V-E Deluxe Mobo £96.94
Sony SDM-S74B 17" TFT 16ms 500:1 £235.06
2 x 512MB Corsair Twinx XMS1024 £133
2 x Hitachi Deskstar 7K250 160GB SATA 8MB Cache £119.5
Leadtek WinFast PX6600GT-TDH128 EXTREME GeForce 6600 GT 128MB PCI-E SLI Ready TV-out DVI £147.11
NEC 3520A DVD-/+RW £40.86
Sony 52x32x52x16 IDE Drive (combo) - OEM Black £25.75
Creative Audigy 2 ZS £48.45
Creative Inspire T7900 7.1 Speakers £72.98
Logitech Mouse MX1000 £49.84
Logitech Media Keyboard £16.57
Mitsumi OEM Black Internal Floppy Drive £3.75

Total = £1403.73
"Prices from ebuyer and overclockers"

I am intending to use this system for games (rome total war, colin mcrae rally, KOTOR II) , video editing etc.

I want the pc to be future proof does this spec achieve that.

Im flexible with the budget for this system, preferably i would like to keep it under 1500 but if any of you think that different components could make an significant impact on system and the budget comes in around £1500 i can cover that.

Thanks in advance for advice
Darren.

I have no idea about any of those prices, im just a stupid uninformced american :(.

I personally don't think its worth getting the xp-120. Even if you're OCing, the stock HSF will be fine.

I'd also recomend just going with value ram. Un OC'd, it will make absolutely no noticable difference, and even OC'd, you just use a divider and get the exact same performance for half the price.

i would drop the 3500 winnie and get a 3000, as far as i have seen all of them seem to top out at 2.7 GHz, i havent seen many 3500 get better overclocks than 3000 or 3200.

If you decide to mate a vantec stealth to the XP-120 you will have to do a lil mod with the fan shroud as it's design prevents the XP-120's retaining clip from getting in the appropriate position.

One pound = $1.91

So that 3500+ is $348.00

Negegg has it for $281.00

You guys must love your VAT over there:p

if you scale back to the 3200+ and some cheaper memory, you may be able to upgrade to 6800+ video...I know I would.
