Prophetview 920 Pro DVI vs. VP171b

Which monitor would be better? I play games like bf1942 and call of duty, but I want an lcd because I do a lot of surfing the internet and stuff too. Which would be better? I can get the vp171b for $407 at dell, but deal only lasts today. the prophetview is $550.

I'm only looking for 17 or 18 inch monitors. I also need good gaming performance, and the prophetview had a good review for gaming, so thats why I am looking at that. Are there any other good 17" or 18" monitors for fps gaming, without ghosting or artifacts?

Any modern LCD under 50ms rarely has ghosting problem.
The Planar is 25ms, nobody complains it for ghosting, you can find many good responses from Planar owners here.

If you need good gaming performance, your stuck with the 20ms or 16ms 17" TFT monitors (if you can't afford the new Dell 20" TFT 16ms). Most gamers suffer from ghosting on TFT monitors, except for the new 16ms or 20ms. And remember the vp171b uses the AU Optronic panel, i.e 262k native colors, others must be mixed = slower.

Most people claims the 20ms Huyndai panel which we find in for example Hercules 920Pro is better than the AU Optronic panel. But both (920Pro / vp171b) are very nice monitors, if you have the possibility I would go looking at them IRL. I don't know the prices in US, but $407 sounds very cheap to me. How much will the 920Pro cost? I'm probably going to purchase the 920Pro, but then it's almost $100 cheaper than vp171. And has a nicer look imo 🙂

Good luck with your TFT purchase 🙂

What do you mean when you say, "And remember the vp171b uses the AU Optronic panel, i.e 262k native colors, others must be mixed = slower"?

Ok so now I'm looking at

Hercules prophetview 920 pro dvi- $550
Viewsonic vp171b- $470
NECMultiSync LCD1760NX-1- $450

So which would be better? Whichever one I got it would be hooked up with dvi connection to my radeon 9700 pro. I'm not that concerned about the price if the prophetview is better I'll get it, so tell me what one will be the best.

Thx
